June 14-18, 2026

Two of the most influential fiddlers of the last 25 years, fiddle titans Darol Anger and Bruce Molsky have a combined 6 decades of reshaping the fiddle world and deep teaching experience all over the world and in their own online fiddle schools. When you combine all their skills, you get something amazing. Together, they have explored the American Roots landscape for almost two decades, sharing a creative story that’s resulted in collaborations such as the Grammy-nominated Fiddlers Four, performing internationally on each other’s concerts and recordings, and finding endless joy in playing music together.

Along with stellar Celtic fiddler Jenna Moynihan and genius-level guitar innovator Stash Wyslouch, they’re teaming up with the FreshGrass Institute for an inaugural week of exploration into roots fiddle and beyond. This camp will be all about combining our individual skills and styles to make music that transcends the sum of its parts. It’ll be a 4-day deep dive into instrumental skills, exploring new repertoire, improvising, arranging solo and group music, and more.

This event will be the most useful for intermediate-to-advanced string players and guitarists, as we will be actively putting new ideas into practice together. Campers will learn: Combining styles, arranging, group and solo work, and improv.

First-Class accommodations at Porches Inn in the beautiful Berkshires Mountains of Massachusetts, easy access to faculty and staff, great food (all meals are included with tuition), time for reflection, socializing, free tickets to MASS MoCA, and playing music together.

About the Instructors

Darol and Bruce

Freestyle fiddler, composer, producer and educator, Darol Anger is at home in a number of musical genres, some of which he helped to invent. For 50 years, he has been an important driver in the evolution of the contemporary string band music through his current group Mr Sun, his Republic Of Strings, the Turtle Island String Quartet, the David Grisman Quintet, The Montreux Band, his Duo with Mike Marshall, Psychograss, and others. The recipient of numerous composing and teaching awards and grants, he is a Professor Emeritus at the Berklee College Of Music.

Bruce Molsky’s spectacular fiddling and guitar playing and unique take on tradition has landed him in collaborations with some of the world's most highly respected players from roots to rock. He’s a special guest on rock legend Mark Knopfler’s “Tracker,” and “1865 Songs of Hope & Home” with Anonymous 4. Along with Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny, Bruce is a founding member of the supergroup Mozaik. Bruce Molsky & Big Hoedown is still considered to be one of the iconic bands of the Old-time music world. He’s also a Visiting Scholar at Berklee College of Music and helps direct Berklee’s Roots Music program.

“Stash” Wyslouch

Polish-Colombian guitarist/composer Stanislaw “Stash” Wyslouch is an avant- garde Bluegrass guitarist, singer and songwriter. His music delights in story-telling, improvisation and outer-space-worthy composition. Despite his Heavy Metal beginnings in middle and high school, Bluegrass music has been central to Wyslouch’s life for the past 15 years, touring and recording with groups such as The Deadly Gentlemen, Bruce Molsky’s Mountain Drifters, The Jacob Jolliff Band, and Tony Trischka’s Early Roman Kings. His 4th and most recent album “Plays and Sings Bluegrass Vol. II” was released in 2021. Conceived as a gift to the music that’s framed his career, the recording is a collection of zanily deconstructed Bluegrass classics. “Wyslouch approaches bluegrass from completely new angles — upside down, sideways, an interdimensional vortex only accessible from within his own mind.”

Jenna Moynihan

What makes Jenna Moynihan so successful is her masterful fiddling, She’s remarkable at highighting a melody and bringing out the transcendent beauty of any tune with her hypnotic groove. Hailing from upstate New York, Jenna is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, she received the Fletcher Bright Award & and The American Roots Music Award - two honors given annually to one outstanding string player. She performs with Scottish harpist Mairi Chaimbeul, in the Seamus Egan Project and the Hanneke Cassel Band, and has performed with The Milk Carton Kids, Laura Cortese, Darol Anger & The Furies, Old Blind Dogs, and as a soloist at Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops. In addition to touring, Jenna teaches at music camps throughout the year and is Assistant Professor in the String Department at Berklee.
